Ray A. Goldberg, who held the title of George M. Moffett Professor of Agriculture and Business (Emeritus) at Harvard Business School and was a key figure in establishing the modern field of agribusiness, passed away at his home on February 16 at the age of 99. Professor Goldberg changed how people studied and managed food and agriculture by promoting a “systems approach” to the world’s food economy. His ideas led business executives, government officials, and academics to rethink the entire integrated chain connecting farmers, input suppliers, processors, distributors, retailers, and consumers across the globe.
